The boiler industry, an emerging sector having registered a double digit growth of around 24% during 2008-09, is estimated to cross Rs.35,000 crore by 2020. This is mainly due to high industrial growth as well as greater demand for power generation.

India is likely to establish itself as a manufacturing hub for the global boiler manufacturers with capability to manufacture boilers in wide ranges from medium-size industrial boilers to supercritical boilers. This is mainly due to technical alliances of Indian companies with several foreign manufacturers and also the Indian manufacturing facilities set up by international boiler and turbine manufacturers. With this development, in the near future, it is estimated that nearly 11,000 MW additional capacities in boiler and 12,000 MW of turbine generator is likely to be added soon. The Indian manufacturers are now using state-of-the-art technology to manufacture super and sub-critical boilers in different capacities. Currently the Indian industry is able to deliver 660 and 800 MW thermal sets with supercritical parameters.

In view of the importance of the industry, it is relevant to bring the Indian steam and boiler system industry including technology providers, equipment manufacturers, service providers and the users of steam and boiler systems to a common platform to discuss and share their views on the present and future macro and micro aspects.

The 4th national conference - STEAMTECH2010 is being organized by Steam and Boiler Review on 23rd and 24th December 2010 at J. B. Auditorium, Ahmedabad Management Association, Ahmedabad.
