Indian Energy Scenario

With the increased challenges of fuel security, environment, and the efficiency, a large number of opportunities in the energy sector are emerging. Technological breakthrough as well as funding will contribute significantly towards the growth of energy sector in India.

Increasing Transmission & Distribution Efficiencie

By 2015, it is expected that India’s GDP will hit the US$ 2 trillion mark thereby creating one of the largest subcontinental economies in the developing world. Government of India is keen to opening up the power sector to private international players. The private sector currently accounts for just 23 % of India’s power generation. To achieve the required growth in power sector, there needs a rapid implementation of “Techno-Innovation”.

HVAC System & Green Building

Increasing efficiencies in energy generation and its transmission and distribution (T&D) has been a major challenge for the India’s power sector which reports nearly 30 percent losses in T&D primarily due to theft and other leakages. India’s transmission grid is in urgent need of expansion and improvement. According to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, the overall constructed area of the building sector in India will be 9,670 million sqm by 2030; which includes offices, retail, hospitality, and residential segments. This potential demand from the construction sector (both conventional and green buildings) coupled with the potential to save energy from air-conditioning (especially through efficient technologies) will usher a boom period for the HVAC market by 2035, with complete support from the Government to promote energy-efficient standards, practices and technologies.

Renewable Energy & Sustainability

At present, Renewable energy contributes about 12 per cent of total installed electricity generation capacity in India. This comprises an almost 150% increase in the past 5 years. It is clear that India needs to adopt latest energy technologies such as clean coal, smart grid and other energy efficient systems to get secure and environmental friendly energy.

Energy can be supplied in a different, smarter way as a result of innovations along the full energy valuechain: from policy and strategy to generation, trading, transport, distribution processes and end-users. If all of the stakeholders in the energy value chain join forces and develop and adopt new innovations, we can impact the world of energy and create a reliable, affordable and sustainable energy system; now and in the future. Looking to these aspects, the focus of the coming event will be on the theme: Sustainability Through Innovations.
